HL 209 Get £85 for an interview about WET AMD in the UK

The Patients Connection would like to take this opportunity to invite
you to participate in an interview for people who have Wet AMD or care
for people with Wet AMD.

The project will help us and our clients gauge reactions to a Patient
Support Programme for Wet AMD patients and those who provide care and
assistance for them.

We are offering £85.00 for your participation in 90 minute interview
to take place at central locations in either London or Manchester.

The Manchester interviews take place on Wednesday 21st November while
those in London take place on Thursday 22nd November.

Please bear in mind that places are limited so please get in touch as
soon as you can to ensure your place.

In order to participate you will need to meet the following criteria,
or care for somebody who meets the criteria:

·      Diagnosed with Wet AMD
·      Used an injection in the eye at any time in the last 6 months
·      Must have difficulties reading ordinary printed newspapers

If you cannot take part for some reason but know of a patient or carer
who does qualify please let us know.  We will reward you with £20.00
if they do participate.

Recently, in another thread, I asked about such a table.

I just found one, so I’ll post the link here, in case anyone else is looking
for such a table:

If the figures on the chart are correct, I find one thing I find a little
surprising:

The chart shows both Acuvue Oasys and O2 Optix as having higher Dk values
than Purevision. Yet neither are approved for 30 days wear, as is
Purevision.

Biofinity has the second highest dK, second only to Night&Day. Yet they are
currently approved in the US only for daily wear. (I believe they have been
approved for 30 days wear in other countries, however, and will probably
eventually have that approval in the US.) (Why does such approval always
take longer in the US?)

I wonder though, why Oasys and O2 were not submitted for 30 day approval?
(Or, if they were submitted, why not approved?)

According to the chart, Advance only has a dK of 60, much lower than the
others. I’m surprised that a si-hy lens would have such a low dK. (And
surprised that my eye doc would tell me (see thread about toric si-hys) that
the Advance has a higher dK than Purevision, and is approved for 30 day
wear!)

Can someone help me understand this:

Does dim light increase the vision cycle activity and therefore raise the
risk of increased rate of damage in macular dystrophy or stargardt?

Is it advisable for an 11 year old girl just diagnosed with either(they are
not sure of exact condition) to wear sunglasses and minimise light exposure?
