I have been using Cibasoft Visitint lenses for over six years now, but
I have found that my comfort level with them has been slowly
decreasing. Often times I can barely get 10-12 hours out of them when
I used to wear them 14-16 hours a day. So being that I plan on
getting a checkup soon (right eye needs a slight bump in strength),
should I lean towards a somthing like the Focus N&D so that I can get
the daily wear time I am looking for? Would these be more comfortable
for my eyes?

Uncomfortable lenses; switch to Focus N&D?
post cataract preservation
Had a cataract operation in March 02, everything is fine, no problems
at all. Having an office job, I like to work out on weekends such as
wood-chopping for some hours and so on. Somebody said to me, that this
is dangerous for the lens. Is that right, do I have to be especially
careful for the rest of my life?
Lack of Information
Dear readers at sci.med.vision,
We are group of scientists at Lviv Medical University (Ukraine), which
plans to conduct new research in pediatrics, but can not plan it
properly, because of the great lack in English medium papers in our
libraries. Currently there are approximately 20 papers which we are in
great need of, and which we have been desperately trying to obtain for
nearly a year of time. There is now nothing to do but to request you to
help us in getting photocopies of those papers from your country, since
we think that your libraries are more complete.
If you ever experienced and suffered from the lack of information, you
might understand us, if we would venture to ask you to send us
photocopies of those articles through the post. Of cause, we are aware
that this would require to make photocopies, travel to the post office,
mailing expenses, which at face of on-going pressure of the time makes
our request almost unfeasible. So the only we may rely on is your
understanding and believe that we would also help to somebody if such a
request was sent to us.
If you are kind enough to offer your assistance we would be happy to
send you a list of papers in question.
Please, contact us through this email address since we are only
temporary users of your newsgroup.
Sincerely,
Sergei V. Gerasimov, M.D., Ph.D.

Difference in contact lens solutions?
Is there really a difference in contact lens solutions, other than brand
name and price?
I have read here and heard elsewhere that it is better to use separate
solutions for cleaning, soaking, etc., rather than the "one fits all"
"multipurpose" solutions, and that is what I have always done, used separate
solutions for my RGP lenses. As far as brand name goes, I usually look for
what is cheapest, as these products are very overpriced. (If a store brand
generic is available, I’ll usually get that.)
But I’ve seen discussions here of different brands of solutions, at least
regarding soft lenses. Is there really a difference in efficacy of different
brands of single purpose solutions, so that it’s really worth paying more
for a particular brand?
I’ve noticed, for instance, that there are RGP solutions from both Bausch
and Lomb and Boston. "Boston" is owned by B&L. Both solutions are made by
the same company, but the "Boston" solutions cost more. Is there really any
difference in the solutions, or does one just cost more due to the name and
packaging, hoping that people will think it’s "better"?
recurrent unilateral red eye in the right eye!
went to see my eye doctor and he gave me hematropine and prednisone.
he said my eye was inflamed. there was no discomfort, no light
sensitivity, no discharge, just redness. redness went away after i was
on eye drops. after I took off hematropine and tapered prednisone as
doctor instructed, the redness came back again. this unilateral red
eye always happen to my right eye, and recurs about once a year. what
are some of possible underlying causes of red eye that only happens
unliterally? thanks

If you follow this link and do a full text search for a specific
device, you can read the reports which have been filed.
Some good search words are Visx, hansatome, Nidek, etc. You’ll notice
that most of the patient results are "disability".
focusing on bright spots
hi,
i usually get (cause) migraines if i try to focus on small shining
spots, such as the green dot on monitors or other objects with high
contrast to the surroundings (even a tv in a dark room). i also dont
see it quite clearly but it seems like it’s sort of shaking slighly in
all directions. what visual problem is this and how could one fix it?
thanks.

eyelash
Sorry, but i didnt know what else to call it, but yes, i had a corneal
abrasion about three years ago and it healed and everything felt fine
until a month or two ago. Im wondering if maybe it healed over the
eyelash like you said, but im not sure if thats the case since it only
started bothering me lately.
If that is what happened, how do they go about getting it out? Im
guessing they will have to put me to sleep and cut it all over again
to get it out?
differing center thickness in Hoya 1.71
Hi, this question is probably for the opticians out there. I recently
picked up my Hoya 1.71 glasses and found that one lens was a little
thicker than the other. My eyes are actually the same power and the
pd is 32/32 (even). I went back and the guy told me that the center
thickness is 1.0 on the right and 1.3 mm on the left. He said that is
within the tolerance of making lenses. Is this right? How could they
be the same power with differing center thickness? Would that mean
that the curvature of the lenses are different?
Any help is appreciated.
